First whiskey experience in iconic local heritage site designed to inspire

Finding innovative ways to engage our taste buds, we presented fans of one of the best-loved Scotch whiskies: The Macallan Whiskey E, an elegant experience as they embark on a thoughtful journey of the Scottish imagination behind whiskey-making.

Visitors could journey through rooms dedicated to unfolding flavors and processes that make the Scottish single-malt whisky brand so iconic. While duty-free experiences are curtailed by air travel restrictions, the concept inspires local tourism to immerse in the dynamic exploration of the brand. Shanghai Airport at World Routes Expo

For over 4 years, we developed the booth design for Shanghai Airport – an organisation that consistently offers stunning perspectives into the country’s local culture through its booth presence

to inspire

In World Routes 2019 in Adelaide, Australia, Shanghai Airport entrances its visitors with a garden scene that envelops anyone who steps in. With the booth built in likeness to traditional Chinese architecture, we made use of wooden Byobu structure and used holographic projections to depict mirages of a bamboo forest.

Meant to emulate the serene gardens of Jiang Nan, the bamboo aesthetic casted on the translucent screens provide a moment of respite in intricacies of light, shadow, and perspective.
Implying through its storiesShanghai Airport wants to provide ease and comfort.

Booth design plays on versatility and impressionable statements. Unlike 2019‘s work, Shanghai Airport at the World Routes 2018 offered different message to its visitors. At Guangzhou World Routes 2018, the brand focused on showcasing intelligent smart solutions. Cutting-edge technology was witnessed in its wall of vivid moving images. The exterior of the booth was composed entirely of LED screens that showed the stunning sights of Shanghai’s urban landscape. Panoramic shots extended seamlessly across the stand, bringing the city sights to the event while the interiors consisted of interactive element.

At World Routes 2017 in Barcelona, Shanghai Airport’s booth stood out for its extensive use of greenery. Communicating the message of ‘Green Airport, Sustainable Travel’, the exhibit reflected the airport’s support for environmentally-conscious travel and was oriented in a circular fashion to symbolise Shanghai Airport’s vital role as an aviation hub in the region.

Living with Ink: The Collection of Dr Tan Tsze Chor Exhibition

The vast Special Exhibitions Gallery, housed within the Asian Civilisations Museum, presented an extensive collection of artworks by Singapore’s renowned art collector Dr Tan Tsze Chor. The exhibition explored the appreciation of Chinese art from the 1950s to the 1980s through the selection of Dr Tan and others in the Chinese art community in Nanyang. Through their exchanges and networks, the exhibition explored the formation of Chinese identity occurring in the emergence of Chinese modern art.

To complement the works on display, a clean and elegant design approach was adopted. The open nature of the layout allowed visitors to freely explore the different curatorial themes while the adoption of a white palette ensured focus on the works themselves. A large, suspended, fabric backdrop served as the singular design element that characterised the entire space.

To accompany the main exhibition, a series of fun interactive stations allowed for hands-on engagement. Targeted for younger visitors, guests were able to try their hand at making their very own Chinese scroll, as well as calligraphy and other creative activities.
